The Mesa – Santa Barbara’s Most Desired Neighborhood

The Mesa area of Santa Barbara is a delightful neighborhood sitting on the southwest boarder of the city. The neighborhood runs from the City College into Hendry’s Beach, with a total of 2 ½ miles of land. It is a very popular and desired neighborhood in the city, often voted ‘Best Neighborhood’ by the locals.  Even Filippini Wealth Management, Inc. president Ian Filippini Santa Barbara agrees that it is superb in all rights of that word.

Mesa’s Beautiful Glory

Mesa residents enjoy easy and quick access to Hendry’s Beach, as well as Shoreline Park and the Douglas Family Preserve. Families residing in the area always have a variety of unique opportunities for enjoyment living here, thus preventing any boredom in days or nights. No matter the age of the individuals in your home, the many activities offered are perfect to accommodate all needs. There are many shops and restaurants in the Mesa neighborhood as well, so there is always something going on for residents to enjoy.  Many of these shops are located near Cliff Drive.

The Mesa neighborhood has its own unique characteristics that make it unique, as well as much to see and do any day of the week. Plus, residents can easily access other neighborhoods of the city simply and within just a matter of minutes, including downtown SB.

Furthermore, it seems that the temperatures in the Mesa area are warmer than what is found in the downtown area of town and other neighborhoods. Residents can expect the temperatures to be close to the 74 degree average temperature in the summer months rather than on the lower end of the spectrum.

Living in Mesa

There are two elementary schools in the Mesa neighborhood for students to attend, including Washington School and Monroe School. Washington School overlooks the ocean, and most families purchase homes in the area with expectations of their children attending this magnificent school. Other schools in the area include La Cumbre junior High School for 7th and 8th graders.

Housing in the Mesa area consists of ranches, cottages and Mediterranean style homes. At one time, Mesa had many older homes from the 50s, though recent construction has replaced those homes with larger, more modern two-story homes with even more beach convenience.

There is a nice selection of homes for individuals who wish to live in the Mesa neighborhood. The cost of those homes is among the highest in the entire Santa Barbara area, averaging between $850,000 to about $2 million. This price will afford you a home ranging between 1000 square feet and 1500 square feet. For a home with more square footage, expect to spend a minimum of about $1.5 million to $3.5 million. Oceanfront homes are available as well, with the cost of those homes averaging about $4 million. Homes are available to accommodate families of all sizes, and even retired couples who are ready to live life to the fullest in a grand neighborhood.

Planning to Buy a Mesa Home

If you are ready to live in the Mesa neighborhood, be sure that you stop by and talk to Filippini Wealth management, Inc. and Ian Filippini Santa Barbara. He can help you with a variety of financial matters that provide you with the financial stature needed to be able to call one of the beautiful Mesa homes your own. Among the available services, you can enjoy estate planning, tax preparation, real estate services, insurance and many others.  You will need to make the short drive over into Montecito to visit Ian Filippini Santa Barbara and Filippini Wealth Management, Inc. , but this is a short drive that you will not mind making.

The History of Santa Barbara

The American Riviera is the name given to Santa Barbara, California. It is a town that has a long and very interesting history, and one that entails how the gorgeous city become what it is today.

The Early History of Santa Barbara

Around 13,000 years ago, it was the Native Americans who lived in most of the state of California. One of the oldest Native American skeletons still available today was found on the Santa Rosa Island, about 30 miles from Santa Barbara. Not only does Ian Filippini Santa Barbara assist individuals with financial matters as president of Filippini Financial Group, he also enjoys history quite well, especially that of the city he so proudly calls home.

The native Americans occupied the area for a number of years, however, it eventually was taken over by Spaniards who come in hopes of turning the natives into Christians. A war broke out, despite the Spaniards thought that things would go smoothly for them. The Mexican War of Independence resulted in Santa Barbara becoming a part of Mexico, until 1848, that is, when America made claims to the area as the result of victory over the way. Once this change occurred, so did the down.

The Wild Wild West

Santa Barbara was a ‘wild west town,’ and individuals who were in search of gold soon come to town. They were followed by more settlers who were astounded by the absolute beauty that the town offered. In 1851, grid roads were added, thanks to Salisbury Haley.

Later, during the Victorian period after World War 1, film making become a popular pastime in the city. In the 1920s and the 1930s, there were numerous events that took place, including the County Courthouse erection and an earthquake in 1925. World War II drove out many people, but they quickly returned when the turmoil ended.

Santa Barbara Today

These days Santa Barbara has come a very long way. It is located on the coast of the Pacific Ocean, and nestled in between the Santa Ynez mountains. It is one of the most desirable locations to live in the state, with near perfect weather year-round, a mountainous number of fun and enjoyable activities and pristine home. The beaches attract the most number of people into the area, but this is far from the only thing that is offered in Santa Barbara. Some of the most popular attractions in the area include:

  • Hendry’s Beach: A nice, secluded, family friendly beach with lots of fun going on at any time.
  • Santa Barbara Mission: The Mission is still in operation today and serves as a place of worship.
  • The Museum of Art: This museum truly has something for everyone, and inside you can find many exhibits, paintings and other form of art work, with some dating back to the early 15th century.
  • Farmers Market: The Farmers Market is an amazing place to shop and visit. Freshly grown produce is available year round, and it is a cut above what you will find sold in any market.
